Find out what makes someone an ideal candidate for invisible braces.

While the ideal time to get braces is childhood, there are many reasons why someone may not be able to get them early on in life. InvisalignFortunately, our dentists, Drs. Carl and Jonathan Limberakis of Abington, KY, make it possible for adults of all ages to still get a straighter, healthier smile thanks to options like Invisalign. Wondering if Invisalign is right for you? Here are some factors to consider:

Your Age

According to the American Academy of Orthodontics, almost 25 percent of people that wear braces are adults. Here at Limberakis Family Dentist in Abington, PA, we routinely help patients of all ages achieve beautiful results with both traditional orthodontic systems as well as Invisalign.

One factor that plays into whether or not Invisalign is right for you is your age. Older teens and adults are the ideal candidates for Invisalign; however, children and teens whose teeth are still growing will not be right for Invisalign.

Your Dental Issues

This is the biggest factor that helps our Abington, PA, Invisalign dentists determine whether this is the best way to straighten your smile. While Invisalign can handle a wide range of issues, it won’t be able to address problems that are too severe.

If the situation isn’t too severe, then this clear orthodontic system can fix most malocclusions (e.g. overbites; underbites), slightly crooked teeth, uneven spacing, and crowding.

Your Discipline

This might seem like an odd factor to consider, but since Invisalign aligners are removable, you may be enticed to remove them more often than you actually wear them; however, if you want to see results the only way to do that is to wear your aligners. Yes, you can remove them prior to eating and brushing your teeth; however, the rest of the time aligners should be in your mouth.

If you don’t see yourself being able to wear your aligners for 20-22 hours each day then you may want to talk to us about other options that won’t have you as tempted.
