Learn more about the process of wearing these invisible braces.

Before getting braces, it’s important to understand as much about the treatment process as possible. After all, you’ll be wearing these Invisalignbraces for several months. Before you decide to take the plunge, find out what to expect when you get Invisalign from your Jenkintown, PA dentists Drs. Cary and Jonathan Limberakis.

Step 1: Consulting with Your Dentists in Jenkintown

Your treatment starts the moment you come into our office for a consultation. Whether these braces are for you or your teen we will schedule an exam in order to make sure that you or your child’s smile is right for Invisalign. We will perform a physical exam of your mouth and discuss your treatment goals to determine if invisible braces are right for you.

Step 2: Creating Your Treatment Plan

Once we’ve deemed you an ideal candidate for Invisalign we will take X-rays and impressions of your teeth to help us create a 3-D image of your mouth. From these images, we will create your very own treatment plan to determine which teeth movements should occur and how long your treatment will most likely take.

We will be able to show you how your treatment will move your teeth and also give you an idea of what your smile will look like after Invisalign. These impressions and treatment plan will then be sent to a lab where they will get to work on creating your Invisalign aligners.

Step 3: Getting Your Custom Aligners

Your clear aligners will each be made according to the specifications mapped out by your cosmetic dentists in Jenkintown. You will then come back into our office where you will be fitted with the first set of aligners in your series. Aligners can be removed before you eat, drink, brush or floss but remember that you should wear them for a minimum of 22 hours each day. Each aligner is worn for two weeks before being replaced with the next one in the series.

Step 4: Achieving Your New Smile

Everyone’s length of treatment will be a bit different but the end result is a straighter smile. Once your Invisalign treatment is complete we will talk to you about whether you may need to wear a retainer afterwards to help maintain your smile’s new position.
